Up for sale is a 2012-W U.S. Army Infantry Uncirculated Silver Dollar OGP. Included with the Silver Dollar is the Box, Sleeve, and Certificate of Authenticity. Please see photos for specifications. The following information is from moderncommemoratives, “The 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar was issued to commemorate the legacy of the United States Army Infantry and the establishment of the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center. The program included a silver dollar coin with a maximum mintage of 350,000 pieces.
The designs for the coin were announced prior to a football game between the Fort Benning Doughboys and the Columbus State University Cougars on October 27, 2011. The opening coin toss was performed with a prototype of the commemorative coin. This prototype was actually one of several test strikes created by the United States Mint using a master die and carrying a bullion finish, which is not approved for commemorative coins. The prototype and other test strikes were retained by the US Mint and eventually melted.
The obverse design for the Infantry Silver Dollar features a modern infantry soldier charging forward and beckoning others to follow, representing the “Follow Me” motto of the infantry. The inscriptions include “Liberty”, “In God We Trust”, and the date “2012”. The obverse was designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso.
On the reverse is the crossed rifles insignia, which is the branch insignia of the infantry. The inscriptions include “United States of America” above, and the denomination “One Dollar” and “E Pluribus Unum” below. The reverse was designed by Ronald D. Sanders and sculpted by Norman E. Nemeth.
Sales of the 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollars began at the United States Mint on February 16, 2012. Pricing for the coins was $49.95 for proofs and $44.95 for uncirculated coins during an introductory period, with prices $5 higher during the regular sales period. A Defenders of Freedom Set was also available priced at $51.95. This product included the proof coin and a replica dog tag.
The price of each coin included a surcharge to be paid to the National Infantry Foundation to establish an endowment to support the maintenance of the National Infantry Museum and Solider Center after its completion.
Across all product options, the final mintage for the proof coin reached 161,151 pieces. The uncirculated coin had a significantly lower mintage at 44,348 pieces.

- Postage – Please bear in mind that our postal charges include actual postage costs, and packaging which is AT LEAST $5 per package. Signature Required and/or Insurance is added on as needed. We do not ship internationally, as we had too many “lost packages”.
- Dispatch Times – We normally ship your order via USPS Ground Advantage within one day of payment. Unless we are at a show, then the next business day. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with the tracking number. Your item will probably take up to five days for delivery. We ship thousands of coins a year, about 2% take up to 3-4 weeks. USPS will NOT update the item location in transit, do not expect them to. If the item is lost in the mail (this happens in less than 1% of shipments), we will contact USPS to get the issue resolved. We abide by the USPS definition for a lost item: ” not delivered within 30 days of shipment”.
- Returns ONLY within 30 days– We really do not mind returns at all. However, administrative costs may require us to impose a 10% restocking fee. VERY IMPORTANT: We ONLY accept returns IF and ONLY IF the item has not been removed from the original holder we shipped it in. All items will be inspected thoroughly before a refund is issued. If you do not love the item, I encourage you to return it.
