Up for sale is a bronze medal issued to celebrate the decimalization of Australian currency. On February 14, 1966, decimal currency coins and banknotes were introduced to the Australian public. These consisted of 1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, and 50 cent coins which replaced the pound notes, and shilling and pence coins associated with the old pound sterling currency similar to Great Britain's currency. The obverse of this medal displays an image of the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, the nation's capitol city. The reverse shows obverse and reverse designs of the new decimal coinage which remains largely unaltered to this day. The medal comes in its original blue display case.
