Up for sale is a small token. This token bears a portrait of Mexican Emperor Maximilian. The reverse shows a portrayal of the National Emblem of Mexico; an eagle with a snake in its beak while perched on a cactus. Encircling the emblem is the inscription, 'IMPERIO MEXICANO' or Mexican Empire. The date is written below as '1865' although this coin was struck much earlier. This token measures 10.28mm in diameter and weighs ½ gram. These tokens are sometimes known as wedding tokens as they are given to the bride at weddings.
