Up for sale is a Brazilian copper coin struck over another Brazilian coin. The coin was originally produced at the Rio de Janeiro Mint in 1832 as an 80 reis. Then a currency reform in 1835 led to many being counterstamped by the government rather than recall the coins from circulation, melt them down and begin the entire process anew. The coins were revalued as 40 reis. Please view photos and feel free to ask questions.
