Up for sale is a Brazilian copper coin struck over another Brazilian coin. The coin was originally produced at the Rio de Janeiro Mint in 1832 as an 80 reis. Then a currency reform in 1835 led to many being counterstamped by the government rather than recall the coins from circulation, melt them down and begin the entire process anew.
