Up for sale is a silver $20 coin legal tender in Liberia. This coin was part of a series which honored key figures and events of the American Civil War. The man celebrated here is United States Navy Admiral David G. Farragut. Farragut is best remembered for leading the Union Navy to victory in the Battle of Mobile Bay in August 5, 1864 and even more remembered for his response when warned of Confederate torpedos (floating mines) in the harbor. He said, "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!" This coin comes in a protective acrylic case. Please view photos and feel free to ask questions.
